Designed to assist with the organization of your Evidence Unit storage areas. Provides logical storage system to accommodate easy retrieval and location processes.
Participants will be given a variety of organization examples that can easily be implemented within their Evidence Unit to ensure efficiency and time management skills for personnel assigned to the duties of safeguarding the agency’s criminal evidence as well as found property and safekeeping items.
Designed to assist those given the tasks to develop policy and procedures for the Evidence Unit personnel.
Develop knowledge and skills to understand everyday tasks involved in Evidence Room and write directives that are in compliance with state laws, best practices and accreditation requirements.
An Evidence Unit Procedures Manual template is provided in this class to provide easy guidelines to the development of a procedures manual that meets the needs of your agency. This template is provided in both book and USB form to allow the participant to change the template to accommodate the systems and practices being used in your evidence Unit. Also included is a notebook to ensure the lecture is understood and documented as a future resource for the participant.
Designed to assist Supervisors, Lead Personnel, or those Sergeants or Detectives given the task of investigating missing items of evidence, found property or safekeeping that should be safely stored in the Evidence Unit.
Develop knowledge and skills to provide a systematical investigation. Locating the items is not the only objective for the investigation. Ensuring future loss will not occur and corrective action is taken to prevent loss or misplacement of items is the end goal. Recommendations to staff regarding budget needs and system practices is essential to complete the investigation.
